Where Does GPM Health and Life Sell Medicare Supplement Plan A?
What Benefits Does Medicare Supplement Plan A From GPM Health and Life Include?
Medicare Supplement Plan A is the most basic of all supplements. GPM Health and Life Insurance Company offers Plan A in all states where they sell supplemental insurance (see above).Here's how GPM Health and Life's Plan A helps with your costs:
- Medicare Part A coinsurance payments up to an additional 365 days after Original Medicare benefits are exhausted;
- Medicare Part B co-payment or coinsurance expenses, including preventative care coinsurance expenses;
- The first three pints of blood used in a medical procedure; and
- Part A hospice care coinsurance expense or co-payment.
NOTE: It's easy to confuse Medicare Supplement Plan A with Medicare Part A, which covers the bulk of your inpatient costs. Plan A is optional health insurance that takes care of a few of the gaps in your Medicare coverage, including your Part A coverage.
Out of all of the available Medigap plans, Plan A provides the least benefits. Beneficiaries are responsible for covering the Part A deductible in full, which includes hospitalization costs, Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) care, hospice care, and some home health care services. This plan might be suitable if you have no desire to pay costly premiums for benefits you are not likely to use. However, be aware that Medicare Plan A has the potential for higher out-of-pocket costs should you require inpatient hospital care.
Most plans cover some or all of the Part A hospital deductible. GPM Health and Life's Plan A might have a lower premium compared to other plans, but the other plans might offer better coverage. It's important to think about this when comparing Medigap insurance and how the risk of additional medical expenses can affect your finances.
