Where Does Everence Offer Its Medicare Supplement Plan A?
How Medicare Supplement Plan A from Everence Covers You
Medicare Supplement Plan A is the most basic of all supplements. Everence Insurance Company offers Plan A in all states where they sell supplemental insurance (see above).This is how Everence's Plan A covers the gaps in Original Medicare:
- Medicare Part A coinsurance payments up to an additional 365 days after Original Medicare benefits are exhausted;
- Medicare Part B co-payment or coinsurance expenses, including preventative care coinsurance expenses;
- The first three pints of blood used in a medical procedure; and
- Part A hospice care coinsurance expense or co-payment.
NOTE: It's not uncommon to mistake Medicare Supplement Plan A with Medicare Part A, which covers the bulk of your inpatient hospital care. Plan A is additional health insurance that pays a few of the gaps in your Medicare coverage, including your Part A coverage.
Out of all of the available Medigap plans, Plan A offers the fewest benefits. Beneficiaries are responsible for covering the Part A deductible in full, which includes hospitalization costs, Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) care, hospice care, and some home health care services. This plan might be suitable if you have no desire to pay costly premiums for benefits you are not likely to use. However, be aware that Medicare Plan A has the potential for higher out-of-pocket costs should you require inpatient hospital care.
Most plans cover some or all of the Part A inpatient deductible. Everence's Plan A may have a lower premium compared to other plans, but the other plans may offer more coverage. Take this into consideration when comparing Medigap coverage and how the risk of additional costs can affect your budget.
