Where Does Assured Life Offer Its Medicare Supplement Plan A?
How Medicare Supplement Plan A from Assured Life Covers You
Medicare Supplement Plan A offers the least coverage of all Medigap plans. Assured Life Association offers this plan in all states where they sell Medicare supplements (see above).Here's how Assured Life's Plan A covers the gaps in Original Medicare:
- Medicare Part A coinsurance payments up to an additional 365 days after Original Medicare benefits are exhausted;
- Medicare Part B co-payment or coinsurance expenses, including preventative care coinsurance expenses;
- The first three pints of blood used in a medical procedure; and
- Part A hospice care coinsurance expense or co-payment.
NOTE: Some people mistake Medicare Supplement Plan A with Medicare Part A, which covers most of your inpatient hospital care. Plan A is additional health insurance that takes care of a few of the gaps in your Medicare coverage, including your Part A coverage.
Out of all of the standardized Medicare Supplement plans, Plan A offers the least benefits. Beneficiaries are responsible for covering the Part A deductible in full, which includes hospitalization costs, Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) care, hospice care, and some home health care services. This plan might be suitable if you have no desire to pay costly premiums for benefits you are not likely to use. However, be aware that Medicare Plan A has the potential for higher out-of-pocket costs should you require inpatient hospital care.
Most plans pay some or all of the Part A inpatient deductible. Assured Life's Plan A might have a lower premium compared to other plans, but the other plans might offer better coverage. Take this into consideration when choosing supplemental Medicare coverage and how the risk of additional costs can affect your finances.
