Attained Age Rated Medigap Plans: With this plan rating type your monthly premium is based on your current age. As you age your premium will increase. As an example, if you enroll in a Medigap policy at age 65 with a premium of $120, it may increase to $138 when you turn 69, and $162 at age 72. Also, Attained Age rated plans may increase with inflation.

If you qualify for Medicare and don't know where to start, MedicareEnrollment.com, an independent HealthCompare insurance broker, has licensed agents who can help you with your Medicare enrollment options.

SAVINGS OPPORTUNITY: Avera Health offers Medicare SELECT plan policies in some areas of South Dakota. A Select plan is a Medigap policy that requires you to use specific hospitals and, in some cases specific doctors, to get the full financial benefit of the plan. A Medicare SELECT plan pays the Medicare Part A inpatient deductible when you use a network hospital or if you use a non-network hospital for emergency care. Otherwise, you pay the inpatient deductible. Other than that it's the same as the standard Medigap plan.
