What is United American Medicare Supplement Plan D?
Medicare Supplement Plan D helps Michigan beneficiaries fill the gaps in their Original Medicare coverage. This Medicare Plan D, insured by United American Insurance Company, starts at $185.00* per month.
A Plan D supplement offers the following standard set of benefits:
- Medicare Part A hospital and coinsurance costs up to 365 days after Original Medicare benefits are used up
- Medicare Part A deductible
- Medicare Part A hospice care coinsurance and co-payments
- Medicare Part B coinsurance or co-payments
- First three pints of blood used in a medical procedure
- Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) care coinsurance
- Foreign travel emergency care
Plan D is the midpoint between the least and most comprehensive Medicare plans. With this policy, United American covers many of the out-of-pocket costs associated with Traditional Medicare, but does not cover the Part B deductible or Part B excess charges.
NOTE: Medicare Supplement Plan D is not the same as Medicare Part D. This is medical insurance that supplements your Medicare Part A and Part B coverage. Medicare Part D is prescription drug coverage.

United American Medicare Supplement Plan D vs. Competition
The following table shows how United American's Medicare Supplement Plan D stacks up with the competition.
Coverage and Costs
United American is allowed to establish its premiums based on three different rating systems: community-rated, issue-age-rated, and attained-age-rated. So, although the Plan D policy must offer the same standard set of benefits, the monthly premium may vary. Some insurance companies may offer premiums that do not go up as you age while others do. That's why it is so important to shop all plans in your area.
The chart below explains how this plan covers the portions of Medicare Part A (hospital insurance) that are not paid by Medicare.
The following table details how the plan covers the portions of Medicare Part B (medical insurance) that are not paid by Medicare.
