What is Humana Medicare Supplement Plan K?
Medicare Supplement Plan K pays a portion of all Medicare covered benifits. It's designed to provide Arizona seniors a lower premium while providing good coverage on health care services. Humana's Medigap Plan K has one of the highest out-of-pocket maximums of all Medicare Supplements, but it pays 100% of all Medicare costs once you exceed the annual out-of-pocket limit ($5,240). Premiums on Medicare Plan K in Arizona, insured by Humana Insurance Company, start around $78.29* per month.
Plan K offers coverage and benefits for a variety of health care services by covering 50% of most of your deductibles and co-payments, including the following costs and benefits:
- Medicare Part A deductible
- Medicare Part B co-payment or co-insurance coverage
- First three pints of blood for a covered medical procedure
- Part A hospice care co-insurance or co-payment
- Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) care co-insurance
NOTE: Be aware that this supplement does not pay your Medicare Part B deductible or Part B Excess Charges. These are costs you must pay out-of-pocket. Medicare doctors are permitted to charge 15 percent over the Medicare-approved cost for their services. These Excess Charges are billed directly to the beneficiary.
Although Plan K is based on partial coverage, it completely covers the following:
- Medicare Part A co-insurance hospital costs up to an additional 365 days after Medicare benefits are exhausted
- Medicare preventive care Part B co-insurance
- Humana Medicare Supplement Insurance Review (Arizona)
- Arizona Medicare Supplements that will save you the most!
Humana Medicare Supplement Plan K vs. Competition
The following table shows how Humana's Medicare Supplement Plan K stacks up with the competition.
Coverage and Costs
Depending on your use of medical care, Plan K could cost you a lot upfront. Be sure that you fully understand how much you could be required to pay out-of-pocket before enrolling. Less risky Medicare Supplements may be available for about the same amount of money.
Medigap plans may have similar coverage details, but some of them are more inclusive than others. No matter the difference, the same lettered plan offers the same benefits regardless of where you live or the carrier you choose. If this is the plan you want, make sure that Humana offers the best price.
The chart below explains how this plan covers the portions of Medicare Part A (hospital insurance) that are not paid by Medicare.
The following table details how the plan covers the portions of Medicare Part B (medical insurance) that are not paid by Medicare.
