You have 47 Medicare Advantage plans to choose from in Medina County, Ohio in 2017. Each plan page details costs and coverages. Plans meet or exceed Original Medicare benefits, and some offer additional benefits.
Premium vs. Deductibles vs. MOOP
You should not choose an MA plan based on the monthly premium alone. We recommend that you carefully review plans for the benefits you need most. If you need plan assistance, contact a Medicare insurance agent or call 1-800-MEDICARE.
2017 Medicare Advantage plans cannot have an in-network Maximum Out-of-Pocket (MOOP) spending limit over $6,700 for in-network eligible medical cost-sharing (mandatory MOOP limits might range from $3,401 to $6,700). Local and regional PPO (Preferred Provider Organization) Medicare Advantage plans can have a combined maximum MOOP of $10,000 for in-network and out-of-network spending.
If you are in a 2016 Medicare Advantage plan, the plan can raise your maximum out-of-pocket spending limit (MOOP) in 2017, however, your covered healthcare expenses cannot exceed $6,700 for in-network cost-sharing.
IMPORTANT: Be sure to read your October 2016 Annual Notice of Change Letter to see if your MOOP increased. This information will help you determine how much you need to budget in 2017 for in-network Medicare Part A and Medicare Part B charges.
Medina County Medicare Advantage vs. Medicare Supplements
If you're healthy, don't see specialists, and you're not on expensive medications, a Medicare Advantage Plan can save you a lot of money. Seniors with chronic conditions, and those who like to have complete control, are often times better served by going with a Ohio Medigap Plan and a stand-alone prescription drug plan.
