No matter what side of politics you lean towards, having your Medicare benefits played with has got to be a top concern. Recent rhetoric of the right wanting to change Medicare benefits over time to a free market system have many concerned, and rightfully so. It’s a complicated issue that needs a lot of discussion.
With the political left condemning the right for the mere suggestion of cuts, it was shocking to read a top story in the NY Post today bringing to light an $8 billion Obamba Administration program that essentially guts the Medicare Advantage program.
According to the authors of An $8 billion trick?,
“But as part of its hundreds of billions in Medicare cuts, the Obama one-size-fits-all plan slashes reimbursement rates for Medicare Advantage starting next year — herding many seniors back into the government-run program.
Under federal “open-enrollment” guidelines, seniors must pick their Medicare coverage program for next year by the end of this year — which means they should be finding out before Election Day..”
From any reasonable point of view the Obama one-size-fits-all plan is a terrible idea. It’s far worse than the Republican proposal to make Medicare a totally free market system.
Seniors, the ObamaCare law needs careful review. Don’t let your benefits and options get slashed to the bone through the wranglings of our politicians. It’s time to speak up and let the government know we’re on to the games.
